Source: This illustration was originally part of the children's album titled A Day in a Child's Life, first published in 1881. The book featured verses set to music by Myles Birket Foster, decorated with Greenaway’s signature floral and childhood imagery.
Artist Style: Kate Greenaway (1846–1901) was a highly influential illustrator known for her idealized depictions of children dressed in 18th-century-style costumes. Her work was so popular in the late 19th century that it significantly influenced children's fashion trends.
Technique: The original illustrations were produced using high-quality woodblock printing (engraved by Edmund Evans), which gave them their characteristic soft, flat, and delicately tinted appearance.
