Description :
Senufo Rhythm Pounders Key Characteristics Function: Historically, these heavy, elongated carvings were struck against the ground by young initiates during agricultural ceremonies or funerals to establish a rhythmic beat, invoke ancestral protection, and promote fertility. Design: The statue features a highly stylized, abstract female form with extremely long, slender legs, pronounced breasts symbolizing motherhood, and a distinct crest or hairstyle on the head. Material: Hand-carved from a single piece of dense African hardwood, showing a rich, natural reddish-brown wood grain with surface aging from handling Smaller one is 62”x6”
