Traditional Balinese Hand-Carved Wood Door Panel Coffee Table Key Characteristics & Symbols Bhoma Motif: The top section depicts the face of Bhoma, a prominent protective deity in Balinese Hindu mythology. Bhoma's ferocious face serves as a guardian symbol to ward off evil spirits and negative energy. Similar historic examples are preserved in institutions like the Art Gallery of South Australia. Mythological Figures: The center medallions enclose beautifully carved mythical animals and creatures surrounded by a highly stylized tree-of-life framework. Floral Foliage: The background and borders feature heavy Patra (floral and leaf scroll) patterns, typical of traditional Balinese architectural carvings from regions like Ubud and Buleleng. Material & Structure: These doors are traditionally hand-chiseled out of highly durable hardwoods such as Teak or Jackfruit wood (Kayu Nangka), allowing for incredible depth and detail
