Key Information

Shape: It has a distinctive triangular, hollow-bodied wooden shape that allows each string to extend a little farther than the one before it, enabling individual bowing.
Playing: Instead of being plucked like a traditional psaltery, its strings are played with a bow, creating an ethereal or haunting tone similar to a violin, but without the need for complex fingering.
Arrangement: The strings are typically arranged chromatically, with the "natural" notes (white keys of a piano) on one side and the sharps/flats (black keys) on the other, making it relatively easy to learn to play simple melodies.
