Description :
Toshusai Sharaku was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist who is often regarded as one of the greatest portraitists of the Edo period. He is best known for his striking portraits of kabuki actors and sumo wrestlers, created around 1794-1795. Sharaku's work is marked by bold, exaggerated features and dramatic expressions, which made his portraits stand out from the more idealized representations typical of the time.
