Description :
These are vintage percussion instruments known as sistrums (or shakers/rattles), characterized by their wooden frames and metal disks that produce sound when shaken. The Sistrum: This is an ancient type of rattle that dates back to Ancient Egypt, where it was a sacred instrument used in religious ceremonies, particularly in honor of the goddess Hathor. African Variations: The specific "forked" and "circular" designs shown in the image are common in various African cultures. For instance, the Wasamba (or Manianka) is a similar forked rattle used in West African traditions, often featuring gourd pieces or recycled metal disks.
